Ready, Set, Go!!!                           

 Middle School Transition  

          

                      

This course is offered to students entering 6th grade in September. 

Students will become familiar with new friends, faces, and places within the middle school community as they learn about life in the Middle School.  They will learn skills that are essential to a sixth-grader’s success.  These skills will make the transition from Elementary school to middle school not only smooth, but exciting. Students will tour buildings, become familiar with the layout of the school, learn to use lockers, meet important people, get to know students from various elementary schools, participate in team building activities, learn to read a schedule, and much more.   The course is taught by 6th grade teachers who are very familiar with the

 questions and concerns raised by the transitioning student.

Chefs' Corner

 If you like cooking (even if you don’t) this course is for you.  The famous SEEC chefs will teach you some great recipes and provide “tips” for success in the kitchen.  Whether you already know your way around a kitchen or you’ve never held a spatula, get ready for some fun.  In no time, you’ll be slicin’ and dicin’, shakin’ and bakin’, and hoppin’ and a choppin’! 

Dance, Dance, Dance

 

Love to dance?  This course is designed for anyone who loves music and likes to “move.”   This course is for beginners as well as experienced dancers and will be taught by a professional dance instructor/choreographer.  Students will learn Hip-Hop as well as Jazz dance, and participate in a final dance routine.  Additionally, dance students will teach the camp instructors a routine for a dance competition of a life time.

Crafty Creations 

 

Do you like to make projects, use your hands to create things, and get messy with your creativity?  This course is designed for students to enjoy a variety of hands on, creative, fun-filled crafts.  This workshop is sure to bring out the creative talents in everyone. Come join us for bead/jewelry making, creating mosaics, and a wide range of arts and crafts.

Rocketeering

    

 Back by popular demand!  Have you ever wanted to build your own rocket?  This course is designed as an introduction to the principles of rocketry.  You will build, decorate, and launch your own model rocket (Estes).  You will also learn about the basic principles of rockets and flight.  We will then have a group launch day to see our rockets fly!!! 

Adventures in Sports

       

Do you like to play sports?  In this class students will learn the rules for a variety of traditional and non-traditional sporting events.  There will be a variety of indoor and outdoor sports to choose from (weather permitting). This course is about having fun!

American Red Cross Babysitting Course

   

Are you ready to become a certified baby sitter?  In this course you will learn baby sitting responsibilities, first aid, emergency procedures, diapering, feeding, and much more.  This will be taught by a registered instructor and upon completion students will receive an “American Red Cross Babysitting Certificate”.  Students must be at least 11 years old to be eligible (as determined by ARC).  An additional fee of $10 will be charged for Red Cross Certification and required individual workbook (also determined by ARC).

Countertop Chemistry

    

Do you like chemistry? This course is about having fun while learning about chemistry.  We will perform exciting hands-on chemical experiments. We will create chemical reactions, learn about acid and bases, grow crystals, make slime, turn a gummy bear into light, just to name a few.  Put on your goggles and your lab coats and get ready for a good time!!!

Improv:  "Who's Line Is It Anyway?"

                             

Do you like making people laugh?  Are you someone who loves to be on stage?  Well "Who's Line is it Anyway?" just might be the workshop for you.  Join us each day as a group of the wackiest campers engage in crazy acting and improv games that will make the entire camp roar with laughter.  Each day students come together and participate in games that include role playing, physical comedy, prop comedy and much more.   So come step on stage and show your fellow campers hilarious antics that will keep them laughing all week long!!!       -

Backyard Biology 

Do you like to explore nature? In this class you will become field biologists and explore the outside world around you.  Through hands-on investigations, you will observe, collect, and observe animals and plants found in nature.  We will be using microscopes, scientific investigative procedures and techniques to explore and understand the environment around us.  Bring out the scientist in you this summer! 

 

Digital Camp Yearbook/Scrapbooking

         

Learn the art of digital scrapbooking in this exciting new workshop. Students will bring in their own digital pictures, or they can use our digital cameras to create new ones.   Using computers and the Photo Story III software, they will learn creative and interesting ways of preserving digital memories to keep forever.  Parents, send in your pictures, and you will be amazed with what your children can create.

Camp Consumer Reports

 

          

Have you ever wondered what brand of brownie mix makes the best brtownies?  In this workshop, students will test (eat, drink, taste), evaluate and compare a variety of food products such as: pizza (from area pizza parlors), ice cream, soda, brownie mixes, spaghetti sauces, cookies, and chocolate just to name a few.  We will share our results with the rest of the camp.  It's market research that you can eat!!! 

Soda Bottle Rocketry

       

Have you ever wanted to build your own soda bottle rocket?  This type of rocket uses water and compressed air to launch the rocket. This is a water soaking experience.  This course is designed as an introduction to the principles of rocketry. You will build, decorate, and launch your own soda bottle model rocket (Pitsco).  You will also learn about the basic principles of rockets and flight.  We will then have a group launch day to see our rockets fly!!!

Tool Time!

          

Do you like working with tools and building projects?  If you do, this class is for you.  Whether you have a little or a lot of experience, Tool Time will provide you the opportunity to work on an assortment of projects. You will learn how to use a variety of tools (some power tools!), take measurements, and build things that are sure to be unique and exciting.
