Welcome to SEEC Camp!!!

Camp Staff

"Thanks to all the SEEC staff for all their hard work and effort.  We chose this camp because it wasn't staffed by teens, but by adults who cared!!!"--SEEC Parent

Hello parents and campers.  We are your SEEC Staff.  We are all teachers at the middle school that have a great desire to teach some interesting "hands-on" workshops and have a lot of fun.   Please feel free to read about us and the cool things that we do at camp.  Hope to see you this summer!!!

Mr. Clark

Hi campers!  My name is Mr. Clark.  I am a Science Teacher at Gowana Middle School and I am the original camp director for SEEC Camp.   I am really looking forward to making this year's camp experience one of the best ever!  In the past I have gotten campers excited about every course that SEEC camp offers!  I will say however, some of my favorite workshops to teach are Rockets and Tool Time!  I also am really excited to get our campers exposed to some new workshops like Countertop Chemistry and Soda-Bottle Rockets.  And of course, I am positive that campers are going to have a great time with all of our fun afternoon activities.  I think that you will really love some of the things we are planning for this July.   I can’t wait for camp to begin.  See you then!!!

Mr. Conover

Hello!  My name is Mr. Conover.  I am an English Teacher at Gowana Middle School and I have been a camp counselor for 7 years.   I have also been co-director of the SEEC camp for the past 3 years.  It is my job to get you "fired up" and excited each morning as we start our day!   Over the years I have taught many workshops at camp such as, Acting/Improv, Middle School Transition, Sports, Rockets and of course my favorite, Digital Video and Picture Editing.  I love seeing students come to camp every morning and participate in learning that is fun.  And of course, there is nothing better than those afternoon games and activities we participate in each day.  We have had such great experiences with our campers in the past that every year I can honestly say I am so excited to invite more students come and join the fun again!  Have a good rest of the school year and we'll see you in July!!!

Mrs. Douglas

Hi.  My name is Mrs. Douglas and I will be returning to SEEC Camp for my 6th year!  I am a certified Elementary and Reading teacher and used to teach 6th grade at Acadia several years ago.  Presently, I teach ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance at Creative Dance Arts in Clifton Park.  I am also a substitute teacher at Ballston Spa and Stillwater for grades K-6.  At SEEC Camp, in addition to Dance classes, I teach the Red Cross Babysitter's Training course, where you will become certified by the end of the week.  You will learn a lot and have tons of fun (especially on diaper changing day)!  I also love to teach the cooking course and several others as well.  We're looking forward to another awesome summer, seeing all of our "old" campers and meeting many new friends as well.  You're gonna love it!

Mr. Cronin

For the past 6 years I have worked with students over the summer as a Camp Counselor as part of the SEEC Program.  I have led many classes including: rocket building, athletics, and backyard biology.  I enjoy meeting and getting know future middle school students outside of the classroom environment.  This allows me to know who they are before they enter the Middle School Complex giving the students a sense of security as they transition to their new surroundings.  I also enjoy the camaraderie with my fellow counselors.  Scott Clark, Jon Conover and I have been working together since the beginning of the SEEC Program.    I am looking forward to seeing all of you this summer!

Ms. Shady

My name is Miss Shady and I am a School Counselor in Gowana Middle School.  I have been in Gowana for 5 years and love my job to pieces.  I work with a variety of students each day regarding many different issues.  I am huge advocate for bullying prevention and try to teach all my students to advocate for themselves if found in a situations like this.  This will be my second year with the SEEC camp and I facilite a few different activities.  The Middle School Transition and Crafty Kids are where I spend most of my concentration.  We have a great time in Crafty Kids making something new, different, fun, and very cool everyday.   Middle School Transition is one of the most important programs that we can offer incoming 6th grade students.  We review schedules, practice lockers, create our own candy maps of the 3 middle schools, check out the agenda books, and answer any questions the campers may have about this transition.  I noticed the students that attended camp last summer the first few days of school were the leaders when other students were struggling to find their way and open the lockers. They all were VERY happy they completed this program!!!! We have fun, laugh a lot, and create great memories!!!  Hope to see you at SEEC this summer!!!!
